THE PROJECT
The cover shoot for STITCH Magazine's Art Issue (Spring 2021) presented the creative team with the objective of depicting a visual story that aligned with the issues theme which encouraged readers to examine the beauty of ancient and modern art through a critical lens.
THE PROCESS
As the photographer and creative director of this photoshoot, I worked with STITCH's team of stylists to bring this creative vision to life. From crafting models garb with white clothing and fabrics to curating a scene directly from a Renaissance painting, the styling team and I collaborated over hours to reimagine the work of that time period with Black women of all shades and backgrounds as the focal point.
THE PRODUCT
A piece that centers Black beauty as it juxtaposes Black women with historically Eurocentric scenes. With imagery reminiscent of Renaissance paintings, the photoshoot highlights beauty and femininity while challenging the exclusion of Black people, especially Black women, from historical pieces.
